Playa Las Animas

About 20 kilometers or 45 minutes by boat from Puerto Vallarta, Playa Las Animas or “The Souls” beach makes for the perfect sunbathing location just south of Puerto Vallarta. Strangely enough, the beach got its uncommon name because the graves of pirates were reportedly located at this site many years ago. Odd mounds of smooth shapely rocks pepper the one kilometer beach, and most who visit this beach choose to make a day of it because of the many activities such as jet skiing, parasailing, banana boat rides, swimming and of course relaxation if you can count that as a activity. Because of the shallow waters along the beach, families choose to hang out here for its kid friendly nature. Bordering the beach sand are a handful of restaurants that tout themselves as having the best seafood in all of Mexico.
